A finish, a spend-up & a fun afternoon!

I have finally finished my postage stamp quilt. I went with some of the suggestions and quilted it on the diagonal. I am really pleased with how this turned out and have been snuggling under it on the couch watching DVDs today. I coupled some of the left over blocks with a vibrant red for the back and bound it with a spotty fabric to match the greens in the quilt. My egg of a husband would not behave while I was taking this photo so unfortunately you have to look at him too!!

I took advantage of Pink Chalk Fabric's sale too and bought a bunch of Central Park (I love this range) and Amy Butler fabrics.  And Hancocks is offering free international shipping so I just had to go and grab the Central Park designs I still needed, along with a few other goodies.

I had such a fun afternoon yesterday. I signed up for a Free Motion Quilting class at Donna' s Quilt Studio as I really want to be able to feel like I can tackle FMQ on my quilts. Up until now I have been straight line quilting.  Donna is such an amazingly talented quilter and she makes FMQ seem so easy.  I can see I am going to have to practice, practice, practice.

Well done, I just love your quilt and the back is just fab. Now, what are you going to be doing with all of those fabrics - come on, spill the beans.

  2. Love how your postage stamp quilt came out. Great backing, too. Diagonal quilting is the proper way to quilt this heritage pattern, so kuddos.

Can't wait to see what you have cooked up with your new fabrics. Wouldn't it be nice for all fabric companies to have that shipping offer?
